Volleyblast Zipper Pulls and Key Fobs

It was a very hot and sunny day this past winter at Playa del Carman in the Mexican Rivera when Mick and I met Leo van Dam and his wife Kathryn.  We had just made an exhausting walk from the Cozumel ferry terminal to visit our sister resort for a quick swim before returning to Cancun.  I can still remember to this day how invigorating that swim was!

Leo and Kathryn were also enjoying this refreshing water, and once we discovered they lived in Saskatoon, one of our favorite Canadian cities, we were soon chatting excitedly away like old friends.  We just connected, and within minutes we discovered that we both had businesses in the sports industry specializing in children.  Leo founded and operates "Volleyblast Sports Camps Inc.," a company that offers unique volleyball training for children - while I make personalized zipper pulls for sports teams and organizations.  It was just meant to be!!  Just before we rushed back to Playa to catch our bus to Cancun, Mick gave Leo one of my "Knotty Linda" zipper pulls, and we made promises to touch base when we returned to Canada.  What a wonderful memory!

Idiggit!

Leo, true to his word, contacted me soon after Mick and I returned home from Mexico, and it wasn't long before we were collaborating on zipper pull designs.  The "Volleyblast" and "idiggit" zipper pulls looked so classy with a fancy knot hand crafted from kangaroo leather lace.  As well, we were able to match the colour of the logos with different colours of lace.  Kangaroo leather lace is created from one of the strongest leathers available today - kangaroo.   It is so soft and abrasion-resistance, and is the only leather I use for braiding and knotting in my Knotty Linda business.

Early this spring Leo used the Idiggit zipper pulls as a prize to award students during the Easter Academy.  They had twenty minutes to answer a twenty-question fill-in-the-blanks challenge to receive a zipper pull.  Answers to the questions were posted on various walls, sort of like an Easter egg hunt.  What fun for the kids!!  They were so happy to receive their prize, and I'm sure, happy to show off their zipper pull to their friends and family as well.
