All About Knotty Linda:

My name is Linda Brown and I live in Sooke on Vancouver Island in beautiful British Columbia, Canada. My business name is Knotty Linda, Leather crafter, and I specialize in fine braiding and fancy knotting of kangaroo leather lace. For many years I have created unique fashion accessories and sold my designs at vendor booths throughout Vancouver Island. Although I still occasionally provide vendor booth services so that I can keep in touch with my customers, my fashion accessories are now primarily custom made and sold via my www.knottylinda.com website.

I started designing zipper pulls many years ago as a result of a young boys visit to my Knotty Linda vendor booth. I can still see him today, a toonie in his hands, his eyes darting excitedly around at all the wonderful braiding and knotting treasures on display. And then, the expression on his face slowly turning to disappointment with the realization that he didn’t have enough money to buy himself a special memento of that event. He inspired me to design an item that was affordable for children and families, and ever since decorative and sport zipper pulls have been a popular item for kids of all ages at Knotty Linda’s vendor booth.

Today, we create custom zipper pulls and key fobs designed to assist our customers with their marketing and fundraising needs.   Practical and inexpensive, personalized sport and promotional zipper pulls and key fobs make excellent tournament give aways, well received tokens of appreciation for clients and profitable fundraising opportunities.

All About Kangaroo Leather Lace:

I exclusively use kangaroo leather lace for my braiding, knotting and lacing projects.  Kangaroo is one of the strongest lightweight leathers available today, and yet is soft, flexible and abrasion resistant.  The superior quality of kangaroo leather lace provides exceptional value despite the higher cost of a completed project as compared to other leathers.  

Technically, the superior strength of the leather is ensured by the structure of its fibers that run horizontally.  This amazing strength is not weakened by a necessity of having to split the leather, as the leather is already thin enough to be flexible and lightweight.  This makes kangaroo leather lace perfect to create finely braided fashion accessories, decorative whip handles and fancy zipper pull knots.

For me, it’s simple.  Customers can make repeated, tough pulls on their zipper pulls without concern for breakage. All About Nylon Satin Cord:

Nylon satin cord feels soft, yet is strong, durable and wear resistant. The cord can be moistened without loss of colour, and will not deteriorate when wet. The ends are treated to prevent fraying and ensuring that your zipper pull will be attractive for a long time. Since nylon satin cord is not as slippery as other cords, your fancy knot will hold its shape. Just as important, nylon satin cord is available in so many bright and beautiful colours we can match almost any logo!

All About Quality:

Our miniature black pucks are manufactured right here in British Columbia from EPDM, a durable synthetic rubber that is valuable for its heat, ozone and weather resistance.    This means that the pucks are perfect for outdoor use and they will not breakdown from exposure to UV rays, salt water and cold temperatures.   Perfect for the rink or pool!

Your fancy knots are carefully hand crafted personally by Knotty Linda in your choice of kangaroo leather lace or nylon satin cord – both materials chosen because of their strength, durability and availability in vibrant colours to match or offset your logo.   You can even combine colours to match and enhance your personalized logo that can be placed on both sides of your personalized miniature hockey puck.

The personalized decals are created with outdoor rated premium vinyl with bright, permanent inks that are UV and weather resistant.  They attract attention.  We used an aggressive adhesive to ensure that your personalized decals, placed on both sides of the miniature puck, are long lasting and stay in place. Domed decals are created from crystal clear polyurethane that allows your colours to shine through.

Kangaroo Leather Lace:
Zipper Pull fancy knots are created from permanently dyed 3/32” wide kangaroo leather lace while Key Fob fancy knots are created from 1/8” wide kangaroo leather lace. Colour samples and custom colours are available upon request.

All About Enquiries and Purchasing:

The easiest way to enquiry about personalized miniature hockey puck zipper pulls and/or key fobs is to contact me via e-mail at knottylinda@shaw.ca with a short outline of your requirements. For example: your contact information; your preferred items(s); the quantity of each item(s) required, material and colours for fancy knots; and how long we have to make them for you.   You may also attach an electronic copy of your logo so that your artwork can be pre-approved by our printer.

I’ll respond quickly and be happy to send you a price list, quote and suggestions that may assist you in making a purchase decision. 

The five most popular personalized miniature hockey puck zipper pulls and key fobs crafted by Knotty Linda are:

Production time is short. It normally takes the printer 7 to 10 day to make your personalized decals once your artwork has been approved, and I can usually ship within three days of receiving your personalized decals from the printer. Maximum shipping is three weeks, once your deposit is received and artwork approved.

All About Logos and Artwork:

The price of your order includes a one-time digital file pre-press fee for one custom logo decal that is applied to both sides of your miniature hockey puck. A $50.00 digital file pre-press fee is charged for each additional custom decal required. There is no cost to the customer for any generic logo decals such as the Canadian or Provincial Flags.

The customer is to provide digital artwork to our printer’s specifications. They accept bitmaps in PSD or JPWF formats of 300 dpi resolution or better. They also accept vector artwork in Illustrator, EPS or PDF formats with all fonts converted to outlines and all colours defined with Pantone sport colour values. 

Don’t be disappointed. Send your artwork along with your request for a quote to service@knottylinda.com for pre-review by our printer to ensure your logo will be bold, eye catching and easy to read. The customer warrants and guarantees by virtue of submitting artwork for duplication, that Knotty Linda will not violate any trademark, patent or copyright laws that infringes on the rights of others. 

Of course you will have the opportunity to approve your artwork prior to printing of your decals. It is your responsibility to ensure that each proof is accurate, and that information, design and wordage are correct. We endeavor to provide color representations as accurately as possible. However, colors depend upon your monitor and may vary.

All About Pricing and Payments:

All prices quoted are per item and in Canadian dollars. The customer is responsible for shipping costs and any customs or duties for international orders.   There are no GST, PST or HST charges applicable to your order at this time.   We accept VISA, bank transfers and can invoice you via PayPal.

Once our client has approved their artwork, a 35% non-refundable deposit is required before continuing with your order. Payment in full by VISA or PayPal is required at time of delivery unless alternate arrangements have been made in advance.

Prices do include layout for one custom decal, and assumes that the customer provides digital artwork to our printer’s specifications. Please also see: All About Logos and Artwork.

Printer fees for special requests include: $25.00 prepress and version fees for additional decals and $75.00 for rush orders. 

All About Price and Colour Flexibility:

We know that our customers have specific and individual needs, and Knotty Linda offers excellent flexibility to ensure that you receive the best possible price and colour selection. For example:

We encourage customers to combine different items to obtain the best possible price point. For example, should you order 350 zipper pulls and 150 key fobs, you’d pay the 500 piece price point for both the zipper pulls and key fobs. We want you to get the best value for your money.

We encourage sport teams to combine orders with like teams in order to obtain the best price point - as long as there is only one contact person for details and payments. There is only a small charge for each extra logo in your order.

We offer the ability for you to have so many different colour combinations for your zipper pull/key fob fancy knots created with nylon satin cord. One colour, or a combination of two colours - It’s your choice!

You may order an unlimited amount of different colours, or colour combinations, for your fancy zipper pull or key fob knots, as you would like for each order. For example, should you be hosting a hockey tournament and expecting 15 different teams to participate, I’d be happy to make fifteen different fancy knot colours, or colour combinations, so each team can have a zipper pull or key fob in their specific team colours. 

As well, the classy Kangaroo Leather Key Fob with Tassel is made with 1/8” kangaroo leather lace. You may choose to have the 6-strands of the tassel the all the same colour as the fancy knot, or you may have a tassel with two or three different colours.  The choice is yours. 

We understand that many minor hockey teams have limited resources and offer a pricing structure starting with a minimum of only 50 pieces. We also offer incentive rewards for existing customers to ensure that they continue to receive the best price point possible.

Once you reach a specific price point, you keep that price point cost as long as your subsequent order is for a minimum of 150 pieces.   For example: your first order was for 500 pieces and would like to order another 175 pieces. You still pay only the 500 piece price point!

In addition, the total price of each order over 150 pieces is totaled together to provide you with your current price point.   For example: Your Minor Hockey Association has already purchased two separate orders of 175 pieces and 150 pieces, and would like to purchase another 200 pieces. Your association would receive this purchase at the 500 piece price point! (175+150+200 = 525 pieces). Seems too good to be true? It’s not. I value my customers and appreciate your ongoing business.

Your Personalized Miniature Hockey Puck Zipper Pull or Key Fob order comes complete with one custom logo (artwork provided by the customer) decal placed on the front and back of each puck. However, you may choose to pay a small fee to have two custom decals created; a different one for each side of the miniature puck. For example, the Team logo on one side and a memento verse on the other side to celebrate a specific tournament or event. 

As well, you may choose to have your custom team logo applied to one side of the puck and a generic logo, such as the Canadian or Provincial Flag decals applied to the other side. There is no extra cost for these decals. You aren’t even restricted to having the same logos on each puck! For example, a 500 piece order purchased by a Minor Hockey Association hosting a seven team regional tournament for give aways might look like this:  

- The team logo decal is included in the order and a second decal, “2011 Victoria Midget Hockey Tournament,” is purchased. 
- 50 Key Fobs with a black and red leather fancy knot, and the team logo decal on both sides of the miniature hockey puck. 
- 20 Key Fobs with a black and red leather fancy knot, and the team logo decal on one side of the miniature hockey puck and the 2011 decal on the other side.
- 30 Key Fobs with six different two-colour combination nylon satin cord fancy knots, the Canadian Flag on one side of the miniature hockey puck and the 2011 decal on the other side.  
- 100 Zipper Pulls with a black and red combination nylon satin cord fancy knot, and the team logo on one side of the miniature hockey puck and the 2011 decal on the other side.
- 50 Zipper Pulls with an orange and blue combination nylon satin cord fancy knot, and the 2011 logo on one side of the miniature hockey puck and the British Columbia Flag decal on the other side.
- 50 Zipper Pulls with a green and purple combination nylon satin cord fancy knot, and the 2011 logo on one side of the miniature hockey puck and the British Columbia Flag decal on the other side.

Your purchase will be carefully packaged to minimize any possible damage on transit to your delivery address. The cost of handling is included in your order and this is just one of the many complementary services Knotty Linda Provides. We ship merchandise worldwide and international customers are responsible for any customs, duties, brokerage or state taxes that may be applicable. 

My customers pay for their own shipping and I’m pleased to offer a variety of methods depending on your needs, such as Canada Post Corporation, Courier Services and Greyhound. The customer chooses their delivery provider and method to meet their specific needs. We guarantee that we will ship on time. However, once your order has been placed with the provider of your choice, we do not have any control over your provider to ensure on-time delivery. We cannot be held responsible for delays in the receipt of your package caused by inclement weather or other means beyond our control. Kindly check with your provider regarding any shipping concerns you may have.

To prevent unnecessary delays and confusion, please double check your shipping address to ensure that it is accurate and complete. We are not responsible for damage or loss of product during shipping. If you do not receive your shipment on time, or you receive your package in damaged condition, please contact me immediately.
